NON-EMERGENCY MEDICAL TRANSPORT
Purpose of NEMT Wheelchair Transportation
Our NEMT wheelchair transportation service is specifically tailored for patients who require the use of a wheelchair but do not need emergency medical care during transit. Our purpose is to bridge the gap between home and healthcare facilities, making it easier for patients to access the care they need without the challenges of arranging transportation themselves.

Types of Patients Not Suitable for NEMT Service
While we strive to accommodate as many patients as possible, there are certain cases where our NEMT wheelchair transportation may not be the best fit:
Patients Requiring Lifting Assistance: Our drivers are not permitted to lift patients. Patients who cannot transfer themselves or with the aid of a caregiver must have appropriate support for these needs.
Emergency Medical Needs: Our service is not equipped for patients who require immediate medical attention or monitoring during transit. Patients with conditions that might deteriorate rapidly should use emergency medical services. The patient’s health condition should be stable enough to travel without requiring medical intervention during transit.
Patients with Severe Behavioral Issues or Cognitive issues: Patients who exhibit aggressive or violent behavior that could endanger themselves or others during transit may require specialized transportation services with additional support. Patients with severe dementia or other cognitive impairments that prevent them from understanding or following safety instructions and guidelines. Patients who are non-communicative and cannot express their needs or respond to the driver's questions or instructions.
Bariatric Patients Beyond Vehicle Capacity: Patients whose weight exceeds the safe operating limits of our wheelchair lifts and restraints may need alternative transportation arrangements.
Patients on Medications Affecting Mental Status or Urinary Needs: Patients on medications that alter mental status or cause a frequent need for restroom use during transit may not be suitable for our service. These factors can impact the safety and comfort of both the patient and the driver during transportation.
